The Problem

Many large industrial sites now have a centralised waste management facility where waste and recyclables are sorted and baled to maximise recyclable rebates such as cardboard, LPDE plastic film etc. A dedicated waste service crew collects waste materials from a variety of locations spread throughout the site. These can be located internally or externally depending upon individual site operations and these are usually designated slave bins.

How can you establish that your slave bins are operating to their optimal fill level? How do you identify which of your slave bins are becoming full?

Overfilling will no doubt breach a service level agreement (SLA) that is set within the main soft services contract. Early servicing of these slave bins wastes money and therefore unnecessarily inflates your waste management charges as the labour element is not working to their optimum efficiency.

The Cause of the Problem

Lack of visibility, you can’t physically see these slave bins until you look inside the bin.

Your operatives or supervisors have therefore to travel to these locations to verify the fill level volumes. In practice as a precaution for not missing a specific SLA’s the management team tends to opt by getting them serviced too early.

The Solution

With BinLogix sensors, the guesswork is taken out of your waste management. Our sensors enable your bins to tell you when they need emptying, enabling you to schedule collections only when they’re needed.

That means the risk of overflow is a thing of the past and costs of servicing your slave bins comes down, removing the need for unnecessary service visits to keep you compliant. Each low-cost bin sensor makes use of our proven fill level forecasting technology to remotely report its location and fill level to both your central management information platform and to an operative’s mobile device, enabling them to easily locate each slave bin on a building’s floor or site plan, maximizing their efficiency.

Not only does this streamline your internal waste collections in the here and now, builds a detailed picture of bin usage, enabling you to identify those areas overserved with bins and reallocate resources to areas more in need. Managers and waste operatives now get full visibility of the collection/emptying requirements across the business premises and can schedule their waste staff to service these slave bins in the most effective way.

The waste service team meanwhile now get full visibility of the collection requirements across their site, enabling them to adjust and optimize their collection routes and service scheduling to meet client requirements.

BinLogix answered all our questions and enabled us to optimise our waste management processes. It gives us full visibility of our bins, where they are located on site, how frequently we should service them and how well we are utilising our assests.

This is a great solution for improving process efficiency and reducing cost. We now have a smooth operation without surprises or disruption, and we've significantly improved productivity and asset performance.
